Garden Wedding in North Germany

I am always very excited when there is something special to shoot. I already shooted the civil wedding for Tanja and Oliver on Sylt and in the summer time I was able to shoot their great garden wedding as well. As Tanjas parents have a huge garden it was obvious to put a tent in there and celebrate the big day in this location. Friends came with a trailer that Oliver used to get ready for the ceremony. The party after the ceremony was in the garden. Again, I attended this wedding with my talented assistant Natalie, which is why a few of these photos are taken by her (for example the decoration).

Colorful Socks and Fireworks

The trend to wear colourful socks to an elegant smoking – you can see it everywhere. Originally this trend came from England (like lots of design trends in the male fashion industry). English men wear colored socks to smokings since the twenties. Regarding today’s wedding, the men wore magenta socks to a Brioni Smoking, matching reverse jewelry and weddingbouqets. In the beginning there were a few rain drops, but later it lightened up and we had the best weather for the shooting. We decided for a shooting in the Schanze („Schanzenviertel“). As a wedding photographer you already know all the parks and spots in Hamburg and they are beautiful, but it is always nice to try something different. The fireworks in the evening was the perfect finish for this wedding. I would like to mention that my assistant took some of the photos (church from above, wedding couple in the car, decoration). I also recommend her as a wedding photographer from 2014 on.

As a Wedding Photographer at Gut Thansen

Gut Thansen is located just outside Hamburg and offers the opportunity to marry in a beautiful bucolic location. I had the pleasure to accompany Beatrice and Philipp on their most special day which they really enjoyed from beginning until the end. Beatrice make-up was made by Jenny and the matching dress was found at Elbbraut. The ceremony in the church was thrilling thanks to Abla Aloui with a indescribable beautiful voice and Benjamin Fenker. Of course there were a few tears. A big surprise was the unique wedding car waiting in front of the church. Lots of these great pictures were taken by my assistant Natalie Cury, which I really admire.

A Gown to Kneel Down

Not only the dress, Sabrina has put a lot of thought into it to make the wedding an unforgettable event. The result is awesome and makes me as a wedding photographer very happy: lots of great details and a wonderful atmosphere. You could feel the emotions as well, with very insightful moments in the church and with lots of fun in the evening the time went by extremely fast. The gown of the bride will be familiar to most of you, it is from top-designer Vera Wang from New York and it was worn of one of the actresses in the movie Bridewars. The blue suede shoes von NAVYBOOT were the perfect match for this dress. If you visit my blog more often, you will recognize Michael Graaf’s unique flower arrangements. Good work as well from Katharina Jasinski who did the make-up for this wedding. The cut and the smoking of the groom came from Dolzer.

The celebration took place at the Suellberg Hotel, where Michelin Star Chef Karlheinz Hauser prepared an unbelievable delicious dinner. During the lunch break there was a nice reception with harbour view at the Le Carnat Nouveau, the restaurant of Ali Güngörmus, the first turkish chef who got a Michelin star. Accordingly amazing was the cake and muffin buffet (frau larsson, Julies Cake, the knot, die Schoenhaberei, Casa di Falcone) In the evening the King Kamehameha Club Band from the King Ka in Frankfurt and DJ Dedl entertained the crowd with a great music mix. I don’t want to forget something that could be important to one of you. The carpet in the church was from Princessday, Pompons and Lampions are from Miss Étoile und Pom Pom Factory. The menu cards and church brochures were printed with the „Letterpressverfahren“ from Impressiona. The table and seat notes came from Gmund-Papier. I want to mention a special thanks to my intern Natalia Cury which contributed a few very nice pictures to this post. Enjoy!

Results of the ISPWP Wedding Photography Contest

I participated in the ISPWP Wedding Photography Contest Spring 2013 organized by the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP). Five of my photos made it under the top 20!

Dream Wedding in December

This time I would like to show you a few more pictures of this beautiful wedding celebrated over two days in december. Winter weddings normally fit more to a alpine landscape, but apparantly Hamburg is also a nice location. The Maison Mariée organized and planned this wonderful wedding and I am happy that I could shoot this event. For me this was a great experience, a lovely couple, happy guests and a perfectly planned program in a great location. I am happy to share a few more details about this wedding. The first day was the civil ceremony, which was in the Hamburg Planetarium. A wedding in the Planetarium is truly different, a special show which happens after the civil ceremony underlines the importance of the civil ceremony. Following this, the guest were transferred with a tourist roundtrip bus to the St. Michaelis Church in Hamburg. With and escalator we got to the top floor of the church where mulled wine was offered for the guests. Karlheinz Hauser from the Süllberg Hotel served Tapas and other.
